TPOX4214 Packet Optical Engine
Preliminary features: available in 2009
The TPOX4214 Packet Optical Engine provides a highly integrated Packet Optical Transport solution combining Connection Oriented Ethernet switching functionality, OTN packet mapping and switching as well as SONET/SDH TDM interface framing and mapping. The TPOX4214 can be used as a stand-alone P-OTN solution or interface with packet, TDM and universal backplanes in a chassis configuration.
The key features are:
- Complete 20 Gbps Packet Optical Transport implementation in a single device
- Scalable to 40 Gbps in dual chip operation
- Fully flexible FPGA-based chip solution allowing feature and interface adaptations
- MEF certified Carrier Ethernet switching and traffic management with support for PBB-TE, T-MPLS, E-Line and E-LAN/VPLS
- Hardware based OAM and sub 50msec protection switching
- Complete G.709 OTU-2 mapping with enhanced FEC support
- Standard FEC (ITU-T G.975)
- Enhanced FEC (ITU-T G.975.1, I.4)
- Integrated ODU-1 crossconnect
- OTU-2 Section monitoring
- ODU-2 Path and 6-level Tandem Connection Monitoring support
- GFP-F and GFP.T (ITU-T G.7041) Encapsulation
- 10 Gbps SONET/SDH interface framing and CBR mapping to OTN
- 12x SGMII for 10/100/1000 Ethernet Interfaces
- 1x XGMII for 10GE
- 1x SFI-4.1 for OTU-2
The TPOX4214 is delivered as a complete binary image for direct download in Altera Stratix III FPGA and includes a high-level driver software with an API for easy integration with your application software.
As SMARTPACK products are based on re-programmable FPGA technology TPACK can optionally modify our standard product to meet your specific needs for additional features.
