Technology
Understand the technology used in TPACK products as well as the network applications.
The concept and its network application is based on use of the following technologies:
- Field Programmable Gate Arrays
- High-Level Driver Software with API interfaces
- Application Software
- Management Software
Field Programmable Gate Arrays
Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) are silicon chips manufactured using the same processes as Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC), but where the logic elements can be programmed and re-programmed rather than being defined during manufacturing, as is the case for ASICs.
High-Level Driver with API
A "Driver" is a piece of software used to access the functions of a semiconductor chip. It is intended as an integration layer to assist development of application software, which require functions provided by the chip.
Application Software
Application Software is a rather generic term, but in the context of TPACK SOFTSYSTEMs, Application Software refers to the control software programmes written to configure, manipulate and monitor the FPGA-based chip solutions of TPACK SOFTSYSTEMs.
Management Software
In the context of SOFTSYTEMs, Management Software refers to the information and interfaces required to support configuration, manipulation and monitoring of the system via either a local element manager or network management solution.
TPACK technology White Papers
TPACK has written a number of technolgy White Papers that will help you understand some of the new rapidly evolving standards and network application emerging in the fields of Carrier Ethernet switching and transport.
