Management Software
Understand Management Software
In the context of SOFTSYTEMs, Management Software refers to the information and interfaces required to support configuration, manipulation and monitoring of the system via either a local element manager or network management solution.
The management software will consist of two basic components:
- A Management Information Base (MIB)
- A management interface
The MIB is usually based on an agreed standard and is a hierarchy of software-based "managed objects" that emulate the features of the system to be managed. Values associated with each managed object can be read or set using standard commands. The management software, on receipt of a command, will use the application software and high-level driver with API to execute the operation required.
Access to the MIB is through a standard interface, which can be a Command Line Interface (CLI) or an Application Programming Interface (API), such as Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Current TPACK SOFTSYSTEM Solutions are based on SNMP and CLI interfaces.
