TPX Switches
TPACK’s TPX series of Packet Transport Switches are Carrier Ethernet/MPLS-TP Switches and Traffic Managers in a single chip solution. The switches are purpose built for the carrier requirements in Packet Transport Networks. As such, they provide extensive HW based support for OAM and synchronization, simultaneous and deterministic support of MEF E(V)PL, E(VP)-LAN and E(VP)-Tree services based on packet transport protocols such as MPLS-TP/T-MPLS and Ethernet Q-in-Q and MAC-in-MAC including advanced traffic management with deep packet buffer.
TPACK’s TPX switches are SOFTSILICON devices which removes business and technical risk associated with changing standards and customer requirements. The risk minimization goes beyond work-around options in programmable devices like NPUs as SOFTSILICON allows new HW structures to be built in at a later point in time. Still, the devices are standard devices, tested and prequalified in target environment and delivered with extensive support material allowing customers to keep focus on development at application level. Guaranteed throughput
TPACK’s TPX switches are based on a pipelined architecture designed for the worst case. The throughput is guaranteed no matter how different types of switching and tunneling are combined.
Hardware-based OAM support
Extensive Operation, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) support is fundamental for Packet Transport Networks. To effectively support OAM and allow rapid response to defect situations, TPACK has implemented OAM support in hardware allowing simultaneous performance and continuity monitoring and 50msec protection switching on thousands of packet tunnels and flows so as to give SONET style OAM&P to the Packet Transport Network.
Scalability
The TPX switches can be offered in different Si technologies and in various speed-grades to align with all target applications. They are also delivered with TPACK’s unique Chip-To-Chip (C2C) interface that allows two devices to be interconnected to provide monolitic switching with twice the capacity and twice the number of interfaces.
