TPACK's family of TPW Mappers provide efficient mapping and framing of packet data for transport over telecommunication networks. This includes Ethernet over NG-SONET/SDH and NG-PDH. The TPW Mappers provide full feature set solutions with the ability to adapt and customize to accomodate proprietary platform requirements.

TPW Mappers provide efficient mapping and framing of various packet protocols to telecommunication networks, such as SONET/SDH and PDH. The products are based on approved ITU-T standards for mapping and framing allowing full interoperability.

Since TPW Mappers are SOFTSILICON devices, they allow adaptation and customization, but as standard products, TPW Mappers provide a number of other advantages:

Higher plus Lower Order SONET/ SDH / PDH VCAT/LCAS support

The TPW Mappers provide both Higher Order and Lower Order SONET, SDH and PDH VCAT/LCAS support. And TPACK supplies the market dominating mapper for packet over PDH aggregation. The mappers allow full flexibility in Virtual Container Group (VCG) configuration, which in turn allows efficient transport of packet data from 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps.

Full 10 Gbps packet data transport 

TPACK can also provide additional mapping schemes allowing even greater packet data rate support. For example, the TPW192-S 10 Gbps Ethernet over NG-SONET/SDH Mapper can provide full, transparent transport of 10 Gbps packet data (10GE LAN) whereas standard packet mappers provide support for only 9953.28 Mbps.

Simultaneous support for alternative mapping protocols

The TPW Mappers use GFP-F for packet data mapping, but also support PPP/HDLC and LAPS (X.85/X.86) protocols.

Hitless VCAT/LCAS add-and-drop

LCAS allows virtual containers (VC) to be added and removed from virtual container groups (VCG) in response to packet data transport needs. The TPW Mapper allows addition and removal without affecting ongoing data transmission.
