SMARTPACK NG-SONET/SDH

SMARTPACK NG-PDH combines Ethernet over NG-PDH and NG-SONET/SDH aggregation in a single solution. 

SMARTPACK NG-PDH provides an aggregation solution designed for efficient transport of various packet data over PDH and SONET/SDH using ITU-T standards Generic Framing Procedure (GFP), Virtual Concatenation (VCAT) and Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme (LCAS), referred to as NG-PDH and NG-SONET/SDH respectively.

SMARTPACK PDH solutions are based on a combination of SMARTPACK Products:

Carrier Packet Engines combine packet processing and traffic management in a single chip solution allowing efficient switching and forwarding of various packet data protocols, such as IP, MPLS, VPLS, PWE3 and Ethernet. Carrier Packet Engines can also support PBT/PBB-TE and T-MPLS should these be relevant.

Packet Mappers provide full implementations of PDH and NG-SONET/SDH standards Legacy protocols, such as PPP, LAPS and CCAT are also supported as standard.

High-level Driver with API software is provided in both binary and source code to ease integration. The software provides easy to use API interfaces providing an intuitive abstraction from the FPGA design complexities. The software also implements a wide range of forwarding plane functionality in support of PDH and NG-SONET/SDH providing complete control of the data plane.

By using SMARTPACK NG-PDH solutions, Telecom Equipment Vendors can quickly and easily add packet data support to SONET/SDH Add Drop Multiplexers (ADM) and Multi-Service Provisioning Platforms (MSPP).
