Carrier Packet Mapper Engines are cost effective solutions for Ethernet over NG-SONET/SDH. The solution combines the packet processing and advanced traffic management functionality of Carrier Packet Engines with the rich Ethernet over NG-SONET/SDH mapping and framing feature set of Packet Mappers.

Based on latest Altera Stratix III 65nm technology

Altera Stratix III FPGA technology allows the complete feature sets of Carrier Packet Engines and Packet Mappers to be implemented in a single device. Based on 65nm manufacturing processes, Stratix III provides the latest in semiconductor chip technology.

Lower space and power consumption 

Combining two FPGA solutions into one reduces space requirements considerably, which is important, particularly for microMSPP and high-density MSPP applications. With Stratix III technology, power consumption is also reduced up to 50% compared to Stratix II.

Ability to adapt and extend to meet requirements

Carrier Packet Mapper Engines include a rich set of packet processing, traffic management and packet mapping features. Nevertheless, this feature can be extended to support adaptations, customizations and new features, such as OTN. Contact TPACK to discuss your needs.

Convert to HardCopy III for even further cost and power reductions

The TPWX3192 can also be converted into a pin-compatible Altera HardCopy III Structured ASIC allowing even more cost and power reductions.

Ideal for MSPP, microMSPP and Packet Optical applications

The TPWX3192 provides a cost optimized solution that is ideal for bringing 10 Gbps NG-SONET/SDH closer to the edge of the network in support of growing access banddwidth demands driven by triple-play and IPTV services. In addition, new Packet Optical applications, such as Carrier Ethernet Transport, which combines PBB-TE/T-MPLS with OTN, can be supported cost effectively by this solution.
