TPX3100 Carrier Packet Engine
The TPX3100 Carrier Packet Engine is a combined Carrier Ethernet Switch and Traffic Manager with support for PBB-TE / PBT and also T-MPLS, MPLS and VPLS/PWE3.
The key features are:
- 20 / 40 Gbps full duplex, non-blocking switch capacity
- 10 GE port and 10 FE/GE ports per device
- SPI-4.2 interface
- Support for PBB-TE / PBT and T-MPLS
- Multiprotocol support for Carrier Ethernet, IP/MPLS, VPLS/PWE3
- Hardware-based OAM support (i.e. not off-loaded to CPU)
- Low cost RAM technology (no TCAM's)
- Advanced QoS features for Flow identification, policing and scheduling
- Deterministic packet processing architecture for guaranteed throughput independent of number of packet operations
Designed primarily for PBB-TE/PBT, the TPX3100 also supports T-MPLS as well as Carrier Ethernet (802.1Q, 802.1ad), IP/MPLS and VPLS/PWE3. All protocols can be supported simultaneously with multiple packet operations including hardware-based OAM without affecting throughput.
The TPX3100 is delivered as a complete binary image for direct download in Altera Stratix II FPGA and includes a high-level driver software with an API for easy integration with your application software.
As the SMARTPACK products are based on re-programmable FPGA technology TPACK can optionally modify our standard product to meet your specific needs for additional features.
