TPX3000 Carrier Packet Engine

The TPX3000 Carrier Packet Engine is a combined Carrier Ethernet Switch and Traffic Manager.

The key features are:

  • 20 / 40 Gbps full duplex, non-blocking switch capacity
  • 10 GE port and 10 FE/GE ports per device
  • SPI-4.2 interface
  • Multiprotocol support for Carrier Ethernet, IP/MPLS, VPLS/PWE3
  • Hardware-based OAM support (i.e. no hand-off to CPU)
  • Low cost RAM technology (no TCAM's)
  • Advanced QoS features for Flow identification, policing and scheduling
  • Optional support for both PBB-TE / PBT and T-MPLS

The TPX3000 is designed for MSPP applications providing layer 2 switching and traffic management functionality in collaboration with a 10 Gbps NG-SONET/SDH packet mapper (e.g. TPW192-S). This allows advanced MEF defined Carrier Ethernet Services to be offered including E-Tree and E-LAN, as well as E-Line.

The TPX3000 is delivered as a complete binary image for direct download in Altera Stratix II FPGA and includes a high-level driver software with an API for easy integration with your application software.

As the SMARTPACK products are based on re-programmable FPGA technology TPACK can optionally modify our standard product to meet your specific needs for additional features.
