TPACK receives MEF 9 certification

Herlev – August 24, 2005: TPACK A/S announced today that its Carrier Class Ethernet reference design has passed Metro Ethernet Forum's MEF9 certification test suite. The MEF9 compliance test certifies that products and solutions meet Metro Ethernet Forum requirements for Carrier Class Ethernet. The test was performed by the MEF-approved test laboratory Iometrix (www.iometrix.com) at their facility in South San Francisco during the period July 25th – 26th 2005.

TPACK’s Carrier Class Ethernet reference design is comprised of:

  • 6 Gbps Ethernet/MPLS switch technology implemented on FPGA
  • OC48 Ethernet over SONET/SDH framer/mapper technology implemented on FPGA
  • Associated driver and application software

The device under test was a standard TPACK evaluation system including the above.

The MEF9 specification covers three Ethernet Services:

  • Ethernet Private Line (EPL) services
  • Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) services
  • Ethernet LAN (E-LAN) services

The TPACK Carrier Class Ethernet reference desing passed all mandatory test cases for all three areas, as well as a number of optional test cases.

TPACK has thus demonstrated that it is possible to build MEF9-compliant Carrier Class Ethernet solutions using TPACK FPGA based technology and software building blocks.
