TPACK takes part in 2 milestone tests

Berlin, Sep 13 2005: TPACK was named as one of the first companies to take part in Metro Ethernet Forum’s Carrier Class Ethernet Certification Programme today at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress in Berlin.  TPACK was granted certification for the delivery of MEF compliant Ethernet Services using TPACK’s 6Gbps Carrier Class Ethernet Reference System.

The reference system is also part of the first European Carrier Ethernet interoperability event, which is running live at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress. The interoperability event has been arranged by the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC), supported by T-Com and sponsored by Metro Ethernet Forum. Participants include: Actelis, Agilent Technologies, Alcatel, Cisco Systems, Ixia, RAD Data Communications, Riverstone Networks, Shenick, Siemens, Spirent Communications, Stratexnet, and T-Pack.  The live demonstration showcases the results of a private hot-stage event that occurred from the 31st of September to the 2nd of August at EANTC and realises residential and business Ethernet services over a protected, Quality of Service enabled, multi-vendor Carrier Ethernet network.

The TPACK 6Gbps Carrier Class Ethernet Reference System is a pizza-box system based on TPACK’s technology for Ethernet/MPLS switching. TPACK licenses this technology to system vendors who wish to provide support for both VLAN and MPLS switching in a single solution. It includes FPGA designs and supporting application software tested at system level providing a SNMP interface to network management systems. TPACK is currently preparing the launch of a 40Gbps version of this technology, which will be available in November 2005.

Using TPACK technology, system vendors can bring a Carrier Class Ethernet solution to market extremely quickly safe in the knowledge that it can support MEF defined Ethernet Services and is interoperable with other major system vendor solutions. TPACK’s extensive support of both Ethernet VLAN and MPLS technology provides the vital link between existing Ethernet based access networks and MPLS based core networks. TPACK’s Ethernet over SONET/SDH technology can be combined with this solution to support transport of Ethernet Services over existing SONET/SDH networks.
